Southern Paint & Waterproofing Company Incorporated was established in 1939. The business is primarily a commercial and industrial paint company, specializing in all types of paint, wallpaper installation, specialty coating applications, sandblasting, concrete waterproofing/repair and caulking.
R.C. “Dick” Doutt moved from West Virginia to Greensboro, NC in 1939 to find work as a painter, thus the beginning of Southern Paint and Waterproofing Company Inc. In 1980, Dick’s son, Richard Doutt, took over the company and in 1986 the business moved to its current location in Greensboro. John Doutt, Richard’s son, took over the field operations for Southern Paint in 1986 and worked to revitalize the waterproofing sector of the business.
